We’ve been looking forward to sharing that Watopi is now opening an office in Stockholm and expanding into Sweden.

Like Denmark, Sweden is facing significant investments in wastewater treatment towards 2045. New EU requirements, increasing focus on PFAS and micropollutants, and the need to upgrade aging infrastructure are putting pressure on municipalities and water utilities. Our experience from Denmark shows that this can quickly impact water and wastewater costs.

We believe that part of the solution is to treat more – and to do it locally and in a standardized way.

Our technology has been tested for the past 10 years. The modular and scalable systems remove PFAS, pharmaceutical residues, microplastics, heavy metals, and other persistent pollutants – before the wastewater reaches the municipal network. The technology is classified as “Best Available Technology” by the Danish Environmental Protection Agency and is in operation at Herlev Hospital, as well as at the upcoming new Odense University Hospital (Nyt OUH).

With our establishment in Sweden, we aim to bring Danish experience and solutions that can:

– Reduce the need for large, centralized investments
– Lower the strain on sewer infrastructure
– Help mitigate rising water and wastewater costs
– Improve the local aquatic environment
